Guitar Skins Growing on Purists

Guitar skins are quickly emerging as a viable alternative to more traditional methods of refinishing or customizing the look of a guitar. In the past, for customizing the look of a guitar, the only choice was to have the guitar airbrushed. To have a professional work on a guitar, it could cost anywhere between $200 to $2000 dollars. The end result would be excellent, but would pose one major problem: the guitar would be forever altered. This might be acceptable in most cases, but in many others, the design choice became tiresome and boring to look at every day. And in other instances, the guitar became virtually impossible to sell for the value added as the airbrush design would only appeal to very select few buyers.
Today, due to emerging printing and vinyl material technologies, what critics and "purists" may have classified as a sticker are forced to reevaluate their opinion after the close examination of this new breed of practical customization. Most guitar skins, and all Axewraps, are made with a durable vinyl that has a rapid air release system for easy application. This system is best described as a series of microchannels that run like veins on the adhesive side of the material. If any bubbles or wrinkles do develop during application, they literally disappear when a small amount of pressure is applied to them. Celebrity Musicians Customize Their Axe

Why are so many celebrity musicians customizing the look of their guitar? Easy, they don't want to have a guitar that looks like everyone else's. And neither should you. You've worked hard at creating that sound that can be identified as "your sound" so why would you not do the same thing for the look of your guitar. See some of the pictures of some famous guitar players including Di Meola, Van Halen, and Slash. Or try a google search for your favorite guitarist's picture of his guitar. I bet you, its customized!

Conrad plays the electric guitar too!

Have you read some of the comments on YouTube in response to some of the Guitar Hero videos that have been posted demonstrating outstanding ability? I want to know why it is automatically assumed that if you are good at Guitar Hero you obviously aren't good at electric guitar. If anyone can prove that assumption wrong, its Conrad. Grant it, not every Guitar Hero gamer can play electric like he does, but I got to think that at the very least Guitar Hero has to at least be creating some sort of interest in playing the real guitar in the minds of many who would have never given it a second thought otherwise. Check this video out for yourself. It seems to me a lot of the finger work looks very similar to some of the finger work we see on Conrad's TTFAF video or Joe Perry.

Can’t we all just get along! The animosity continues. John Mayer, Grammy award winner, was recently quoted by Rolling Stones magazine that Guitar Hero was created just to “bring the guitar-playing experience to the masses without them having to put anything into it” implying that a choice has to be made between the two. Slash, ex-guitarist from Guns n’ Roses disagrees. He plays both and admits "I got addicted enough to the point where I actually beat the game…on Medium. (1) " Conrad Curry, YouTube legend, Guitar Hero phenom and sophomore at Dallas Baptist University also disagrees with Mayer.

Eight months ago, a video posted on YouTube demonstrated Conrad’s mad GH skills when Conrad performed to near perfection the hardest song on GH3 within 10 days of its release date. Conrad had no idea that the video would get over 11.5 million views and receive multiple honors including #26 most discussed video of all time of every video ever posted:

“I beat the game at expert within the first two days I had it and mastered the song the third day,” Conrad recalls humbly after being asked how he did it. As the colored buttons scream down and off of the screen, Conrad plays them as he sees them much like a musician virtuoso sight reading the notes of a piece of sheet music for the first time. “Rhythm and coordination are extremely important in Guitar Hero just like they are when I play my electric guitar.” Conrad admits that Guitar Hero and real guitar are not the same but they are not as different as some would make them out to be. “Just because you are really good at one of them doesn’t mean you can’t do the other or be good at the other too.” Conrad sets out to prove just that.

On July 2^nd, Conrad will be flying from Texas to Maine to visit with the crew at Axewraps.com™. They plan on capturing this phenom in action. They’ve challenged him to play the hardest expert level song on Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, being released on June 29^th, at a perfection rate of 90% or better and also prove that Guitar Hero legends can play electric guitar just as well.
